If you see "Top Gun: Maverick" and wonder what's next for military movies, we've got a true-life Korean War story that's executive-produced by and stars Glen Powell, the actor who played "Hangman" in the sequel to the iconic 1986 movie "Top Gun."

In "Devotion," Powell plays another Navy aviator, but this one is a real person. Tom Hudner was awarded the Medal of Honor for his actions at the Battle of Chosin Reservoir on Dec. 4, 1950. After his close friend, Jesse Brown, was shot down by enemy fire, Hudner crashed his own plane in an attempt to rescue his friend.

Jonathan Majors plays Brown, the first Black aviator in the Navy. Majors earned an Emmy nomination for the HBO series "Lovecraft Country," appeared in Spike Lee's Vietnam War movie "Da 5 Bloods" and has just begun what will be a long series of performances in Marvel movies and shows as the interstellar villain Kang the Conqueror.

We've got a first look at the trailer for "Devotion below.

The trailer suggests that the movie will include a focus on the struggles Brown faced breaking the color barrier in the Navy. That perspective makes the friendship between Hudner and Brown more than just the usual battle buddy story.

"Devotion" is based on Adam Makos' bestselling book, "Devotion: An Epic Story of Heroism, Friendship, and Sacrifice." The Korean War has been Hollywood's forgotten war, so this release will be a very big deal. It may be hard to believe, but "Devotion" will be the first movie about the conflict from a major studio since "Pork Chop Hill" starring Gregory Peck in 1959.

"Devotion" will get a limited release in big cities like New York and Los Angeles on Oct. 14, 2022, a few more cities added on Oct. 21 and a wide release everywhere on Oct. 28.
