Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has won big at the Golden Joystick Awards 2025, taking home the trophy in every category under which it was up for consideration, including Ultimate Game of the Year. With The Game Awards 2025 just a few weeks away, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's new batch of Golden Joysticks is already making the proverbial trophy shelf seem pretty crowded, in addition to the previous awards the game has won.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was instantly a hit, selling half a million copies in its first day alone. It has "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews on Steam, with a 97 percent player approval rating on that platform, and a perfect 100 player rating on OpenCritic, which serves as a testament to its quality of artistic storytelling and fans' appreciation for its combination of turn-based combat with more modern gameplay innovations.

Presented on November 20, The Golden Joystick Awards bestowed its highest honor upon Sandfall Interactive's RPG, along with the awards for Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, and Best Soundtrack. A couple of members of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's vocal cast rounded out the game's awards at the ceremony, with Jennifer English winning Best Lead Performer for her role as Maelle and Ben Star, who plays Verso, taking home Best Supporting Performer. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive won Studio of the Year, putting an extra feather in its cap, especially considering that the game with the second-highest number of awards, Ghost of Yotei, won only two.

These award wins come just days after Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 set a record for nominations at The Game Awards, with a total of 12, including a nod for Game of the Year. The official list of nominees for The Game Awards 2025 was announced on November 17, and the awards will be handed out on December 11. However, the game only has a shot at taking home a total of 10 trophies at that show, as English, Starr, and Charlie Cox, who plays Gustave, are all nominated for Best Performance. They're up against Erika Ishii for her role as Atsu in Ghost of Yotei, Konatsu Kato as Hinako Shimizu in Silent Hill f, and Troy Baker as the titular character in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
