Dying Light: The Beast has received the Hotfix 1.2.3 update, which further alleviates the zombie grab issue, while also delivering a bunch of stability improvements and bug fixes. Since rolling out on September 18, Dying Light: The Beast devs have shipped a few different updates to streamline the player experience.

The newest chapter in Techland's survival horror franchise, Dying Light: The Beast, came out to positive reviews upon launch. However, like most game releases, there were certain areas at launch that needed some fixing through patches and hotfixes. In particular, a notable grievance against the well-received Dying Light spin-off was the annoying frequency of zombies grabbing hold of players. Since the game's arrival, the devs have shipped certain updates to address this issue, along with other shortcomings, and the latest hotfix is another step in that direction.
Following Techland's announcement on September 26, a new Dying Light: The Beast hotfix, version 1.2.3, finally came out for players to test out on September 30. This update brings a variety of gameplay and optimization improvements, including those of a critical nature. Importantly, the grabbing ability of Dying Light: The Beast's Biters has been tweaked to make it "less frustrating" and "more fair," in keeping with the community feedback. Another gameplay tweak in this build revolves around fixing the patrolling routes of Screamers in Dark Zones, which may otherwise be broken. Moreover, the new hotfix addresses the critical progression blocker which would occur if the player received a modded weapon from someone who had previously finished the tutorial, prompting the game to try and apply the mod another time.

In addition, certain bugs concerning doors and windows in The Mine and Safe Spots that stopped players from completing Dying Light: The Beast's quests have been resolved. In the Mental Asylum Safe Spot, the looping music bug and the blocked entrance bug, which would occur after reloading a save file, have also been addressed. When it comes to optimization, the stuttering issue while playing with Frame Generation enabled has been fixed, whereas the missing sharpening when playing with DLSS enabled has also been taken care of. The hotfix further resolves the glitches affecting those PS5 users who play with HDR turned on. Finally, the "Join the Community" button, which was absent on consoles, has been added to the user interface.

As Techland works towards refining Dying Light: The Beast, it is concurrently going over pitches and ideas for the next installment in the Dying Light franchise. After delivering the best-reviewed entry in the IP's history, it may be fair to assume the devs will face increased expectations whenever they decide to release the fourth game in the series. However, given that the studio is currently focusing on improving its new game, a substantial announcement about where the next title will go might be a couple of years away or so.
