'Wounded The Battle Back Home' - Keith & Chris
Wounded: The Battle Back Home (Keith and Chris) follows medically retired Air Force officers Keith Sekora and Chris Wolff from their homes in Washington state as they struggle with different injuries, but find common ground in their fight to reclaim their pre-war lives. The two men, determined to serve their country after the tragic terrorist attacks on 9/11, enlisted in the Air Force and saw combat in Afghanistan. Sekora was an officer in the ordnance disposal unit, while Wolff served as an aircraft mechanic. Sekora’s brush with death came during a mission with a Special Forces unit, while he was disarming a live enemy warhead. He felt something strike him in the back, forcing him to ground before passing out. The extent of his injuries included post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), memory loss, vertigo, and loss of feeling on the left side of his body. Sekora spent nearly two years in hospitals recovering before the Air Force medically discharged him from service. Wolff survived uninjured from a rocket-propelled grenade attack on a plane he was traveling in over Afghanistan, only to later find himself in peril from a seemingly innocuous flu shot. Just days after receiving the flu vaccine, Wolff became paralyzed from the neck down and was told by military doctors he would never breathe, eat, or walk on his own ever again. Wolff remained in the hospital for months before he built the mental and physical strength necessary to defy his prognosis and slowly regain control over his body. Sekora and Wolff’s paths crossed at an adaptive sports camp and the two have been best friends ever since. Wounded: The Battle Back Home follows the two men through their continued recovery as they work with Wounded Warrior Project and connect with injured veterans like themselves. Sekora and Wolff share their experience to inspire fellow recovering veterans to excel beyond their physical limitations and find purpose in their post-war lives.
