"Lost Ships of WWII," a documentary featuring the search and recovery missions of the Research Vessel (R/V) Petrel, will premiere on the Fox Nation streaming service on Sunday, May 29, 2022, as part of the service's slate of Memorial Day programming.
Hosted by Bret Baier of Fox News' "Special Report," the eight-part special will focus on Vulcan Inc. director of undersea operations Rob Kraft and his team as they track down ships sunk in battle during World War II.
We've got a clip that shows some of the spectacular footage captured by the high-tech camera equipment that Vulcan uses on its missions.
The footage looks spectacular, and while the clip doesn't reveal exactly which shipwrecks will be explored, the mention of atomic bomb storage reveals that one of the missions covered will be Vulcan's 2017 discovery of the final resting place of the USS Indianapolis, which was sunk by the Japanese just days after it delivered bomb components for the missions over Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Vulcan Inc. was founded by the late Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft. He left the company in the early 1980s and devoted the rest of his life to projects that included historic preservation, documentary filmmaking and ownership of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks and the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers.
There are several other new Fox Nation releases for Memorial Day that might be of interest.
"The Unauthorized History of the Vietnam War." Bret Baier reexamines the war that left such an indelible mark on the country and examines new evidence that may lead to a different perspective on the conflict. (streaming now)
