Marine reservist Lance Cpl. Roy Webster got a huge surprise on the NBC holiday special "Ellen's Greatest Night of Giveaways" when Ellen DeGeneres introduced him to Robert Downey Jr., the actor who plays Roy's childhood hero Iron Man in the Marvel movies.

"Ellen's Greatest Night of Giveaways" (EGNOG to those in the know) is a three-night television event airing on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT Dec. 10-12. Ellen and her celebrity friends are surprising people on her Nice List with what she describes as "incredible gifts."

Ellen fans know she's going to deliver heartwarming stories to go along with the flash and glitz, and Roy's history is no exception. Kellie Webster raised Roy as a single mom in Dallas, and her little boy grew up loving Iron Man.

Ellen gives Roy a special Iron Man gift, which turns out to be a chance to meet actor Robert Downey Jr. Check out the moment below in our exclusive clip.

The show warms even more hearts when Ellen brings out Roy's third-grade teacher, Marlowe Melton. Marlowe's now a stay-at-home mom, but she had a huge impact on the family's lives when Roy was little.

In addition to surprising audience members, Ellen's team will visit the homes and schools of the people she's gifting this holiday. Joining DeGeneres is an all-star group that also includes Michelle Obama, Jennifer Aniston, Justin Timberlake, Melissa McCarthy, Michael B. Jordan, Jason Momoa, Sterling K. Brown and Chrissy Teigen, along with Steph and Ayesha Curry.

Since that group has a combined social media following that approaches an estimated 3 billion Americans (Note: Estimate may not be accurate), look for an EGNOG takeover on Twitter and Instagram all week.
