Scout Snipers Fire Machine Guns, Sniper Rifles

    Marines with Scout Sniper Platoon, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, conducted a live-fire training exercise at SR-8, aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, April 6, 2015. The Marines fired the M249 squad automatic weapon, M240B machine gun, M40A5 bolt-action sniper rifle, and the M110 semi-automatic sniper rifle. The training was conducted to show Marines new to the platoon, the importance of employing the different weapon systems together to gain maximum effectiveness and to teach new Marines how to use the different weapons effectively.
