First Lady Dr. Jill Biden shared a message of encouragement for military teens in honor of MIlitary Child Appreciation Day, highlighting a new field guide for military teens from the National Military Family Association.

The guide, she said, is written for military teens, by military teens and helps helps them know what other kids just like them are thinking and feeling about military life.

“So much of our mental health, and the support that enables all of us to adapt and grow, even in the face of adversity depends on connections to friends and activities to schools and teachers to our community. So let's do our part to make military teens feel welcome,” she said in the video.

“I know you're balancing so much keeping up with school while playing sports or joining clubs, making new friends and keeping in touch with old ones, even taking care of your siblings, while your parents navigate difficult PCSes and deployments,” she said. “It's a lot, but you're strong, you're used to figuring it out. But you don't have to do this alone.”
