Not only is "Mission: Impossible - Fallout" the finest action movie of the year, it's the best entry in Tom Cruise's long-running action series. The movie's out today on Digital HD ahead of a 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD release on Dec. 4th.

"Fallout" is the first "Mission: Impossible" movie to have a repeat director. Longtime Cruise collaborator Christopher McQuarrie won an Oscar for writing "The Usual Suspects." He wrote the screenplays for Tom's movies "Valkyrie" and "Edge of Tomorrow" and both wrote and directed Cruise in the underrated first "Jack Reacher" movie.

That led to "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation," a movie that injected new life into the series by amping up both the intrigue and the action. Cruise's Ethan Hunt cut some corners (as usual) in "Rogue Nation" and now the Impossible Missions Force is dealing with the, yeah, fallout of his actions.

Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson are back, and they're forced to work with Henry Cavill's CIA agent to crack an international nuclear conspiracy. Sean Harris returns as Lane, the bad guy from "Rogue Nation." He's either a pawn in the new conspiracy or its mastermind.

The plot holds together and the performances are outstanding, but this movie (like all the others) is really about the elaborate and terrifying action sequences. We've got a clip from the home video bonus features that details how they made a reckless motorcycle chase through the streets of Paris.

The amazing thing here is that there are two other action sequences that are even more thrilling than the bike chase. Keep an eye out for our upcoming story about the movie's amazing helicopter climax scene.

Also, Maverick fans take note: Chris McQuarrie wrote the screenplay for "Top Gun 2," which is scheduled for February 2020. We should all take that as a good sign.
