The season is slowly winding down and we recapped Air Force's 27-19 win over rival Colorado State in the Falcons' regular-season finale. AF fullback Cole Fagan was awarded our weekly "Game Ball" presented by Military after rushing for a career-high 260 yards against the Rams. Our guest this week is former Navy wide receiver and New York Giants punt returner Phil McConkey, who played a key role in the Giants's Super Bowl win against Denver (1987). He shared his story of pursuing his dream of pro football after five years away from the game, while on active duty and finally the ultimate call placed to Bill Belichick landing him a spot in NY's training camp (1984). ABOUT PRICE ATKINSON
The son of a Vietnam veteran and former officer in the United States Army, "Yards & Stripes" founder and host Price Atkinson worked four years in the Sports Information Department at the U.S. Naval Academy. With a journalism background as a graduate and student-athlete at the University of Kentucky, he did a pair of stints writing for The Greenville News before transitioning into radio as the co-host of a local ESPN Upstate radio drive-time show. He lives in Greenville, S.C. with his wife and two sports-crazed kids.
