We have a real love-hate relationship with automotive teaser images. On the one hand, they can give us an actual early look and even some details about models that will launch soon. On the other, they can be so cryptic as to be borderline pointless to even talk about. Hyundai's latest teaser is dangerously close to the latter. It's literally an image of a floating, roughly cube-shaped rock in a remote environment. Other than that, all Hyundai gave was a date for the reveal time. However, we have a guess (even a couple) as to what it might be. Hopefully, Hyundai doesn't disappoint.
It Might Be Truck Time
Hyundai actually had a whole teaser video that showed the floating rock spinning, and various phrases appeared. The whole text is as follows:
"Something big is coming. April 1. And it's no joke. Live at the New York International Auto Show. Tune in 9:55 am ET."—Hyundai teaser
So most of that is obviously just giving the date and time of the reveal. Plus, the mention of "no joke" is to clarify that, although the vehicle is being revealed on April Fool's Day, Hyundai isn't just messing around. As for this being "something big," well, that could mean many things. It could be that Hyundai is showing a vehicle that it isn't known for. It could literally be a big vehicle.
We think it could be both, and that Hyundai is finally going to show the pickup truck it has been promising. Even after a few years of selling the Santa Cruz, Hyundai still isn't a company known for pickup trucks. The company doesn't even call the Santa Cruz a truck; rather, it's listed under the SUV category on Hyundai's consumer-facing website.
