U.S. Senator Elissa Slotkin, D-Holly, said she has 24/7 security after she took part in a video that prompted President Trump to described her and others as traitors.

Slotkin appeared Thursday, Nov. 20 on the MSNBC show “All in with Chris Hayes” and talked about the impact of Trump’s social media postings that called the video “seditious behavior, punishable by death!”

Trump slammed Slotkin and the five other members of the House and Senate, all Democrats with U.S. miliary or intelligence backgrounds, for suggesting in the video that troops can refuse illegal orders.

Slotkin, a former CIA intelligence analyst, who did three tours in Iraq, and the other Democrats said they made the video, released Nov. 18, because of questions about troops possibly being deployed to American cities.

Trump then posted his thoughts on Truth Social a couple days later.

The other Democrats featured are Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly, a former Navy captain, and U.S. Reps. Jason Crow, D- Colo., a former Army Ranger; Chris Deluzio, D- PA, a Navy veteran, Chrissy Houlahan, D- PA, an Air Force veteran, and Maggie Goodlander, D- New Hampshire, a former intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has since said Trump does not think Slotkin and the other Democrats should be executed.

She said he does think they should be held accountable.

“That is a very, very dangerous message and it perhaps is punishable by law,” Leavitt said during a press conference. “I’m not a lawyer, I’ll leave that for the Department of Justice and Department of War to decide.”

Slotkin has said she and other Democrats are simply stating the law, as written in the military code of justice, when it comes to U.S. military members.

While appearing on the MSNBC show, she answered a question about her security and talked about threats.

Slotkin said her office has been subject to “hundreds if not thousands” of calls, emails, texts and online postings.

She said the U.S. Capitol Police told her they would put her on 24/7 security. She said there was law enforcement in front of her house.

“It changes everything,” Slotkin said.

She said it wasn’t unexpected that people would respond to Trump’s posts.

“We shouldn’t be surprised when folks on the ground and going to follow suit and say even worse,” she said. “I think for all of us it has fundamentally changed our security situation.”

Slotkin said Trump’s posts will not alter her efforts to speak out against the president for decision by his administration she feels are wrong.
