More On Womens History Month

Emma Didlake had no idea what a big deal it was when she joined the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in 1943.

She was the first woman to be a commissioned officer in the U.S. military and she ensured other women would be too.

Retired Lt. Col. Kathy La Sauce, known as a mobility legend within the community and the Air Force, broke barriers.

Since starting the project, Air Force veteran Stacy Pearsall has taken photos of almost 7,000 veterans in 27 states.

Women make up 20 percent of the Air Force, 19 percent of the Navy, 15 percent of the Army and 9 percent of the Marine Corps.

"It was my last chance to try and recover the aircraft or I would be riding a parachute down into central Baghdad."

Air Force Tech. Sgt. Jennifer Brown was the only female in the 2018 Texas Military Department Best Warrior Competition.
