Military Pay

The White House cited the military pay raise in initial backing for a huge spending package.

Troops in Niger, Mali and Cameroon will be getting danger pay of up to $225 per month.

The request has yet to be approved by the White House, the commander of U.S. Africa Command said.

Benefit was used to supplement family income so servicemembers didn't qualify for SNAP (food stamps).

The increase would be the largest in almost a decade.

The deal would solidify the 2.4 percent military pay raise for 2018 that President Donald Trump authorized in December.

Military pay, maintenance, intel ops and Reserve training would essentially stop in a government shutdown.

The raise would be the largest increase for troops since the 3.4 percent approved by President Obama in 2010.

The U.S. Senate on Thursday joined the House of Representatives in approving a 2.1 percent pay raise next year for troops.
