More On Military Pay

Republicans and Democrats have some areas of general agreement on military and veterans issues.

Advance pay gives you cash to help with the expenses of a PCS move.

In addition to funding hardware and programs, the proposed legislation contains a 3% pay raise for uniformed personnel.

The fiscal 2021 defense funding bill would also fund a 3% troop pay raise.

The increase would not apply to service members in combat zones.

Lawmakers have gotten involved to make sure the mobilized troops get paid.

Some troops missed June 15 paychecks as multiple call-ups and orders lead to paperwork mix-ups.

The bill would make changes to Exceptional Family Member programs, child care services and sexual assault investigations.

Members will be eligible for at least $225 extra every month

The bonuses are part of the final push to meet the Army's end-strength goal of 485,000 by Sept. 30.
