Troops and air defenses are headed to the region in the wake of attacks on Saudi oil production facilities.

The attacks on the Saudi oil facilities evaded Raytheon’s Patriot ballistic missile defense system.

The U.S. will send hundreds of troops and air defense measures to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to counter Iran.

The U.S. is awaiting a final assessment from the Saudis on "where they believe the attacks came from."

Members of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit were photographed this week with a Light Armored Vehicle on the flight deck.

Officials with CENTCOM say the U.S. was never "warned" before Iran took out the drone, contrary to the regime's statements.

"We will escort our ships to the degree that the risks demand it," Esper said.

Gen. Kenneth McKenzie, head of U.S. Central Command, said a second drone is believed to have been taken out by Marines.
