If you're enlisted in the military, and you have an interest in pursuing medicine, be sure to check out the Enlisted to Medical Degree Preparatory Program (EMDP2). This amazing opportunity allows you to remain on active duty while a full-time student in a program specifically designed to prepare you for medical school.
EMDP2 is a two-year program that allows promising enlisted service members to complete coursework that will prepare them to be competitive medical school applicants. The Pre-Medical Undergraduate Certificate, offered by George Mason University-Prince William Campus in Manassas, Virginia, is available only to those selected for the EMDP2 program. The full-time schedule includes intensive coursework, mentoring, and preparation for the student's medical school application. Upon completion, students will be prepared to compete for entrance into the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) or any civilian medical school in the United States. Students are required to apply to medical school, but are not guaranteed admission at the USUHS or any other medical school.
Those selected will complete a Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move to participate in the program. Participants will remain on active duty and continue to receive pay and benefits at current pay grade. All educational expenses, including tuition and books, are paid for by the program.
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree, in any field. Each branch of the military has different requirements with regards to age, time-in-service, obligated service, and other details. Interested service members must apply for the program through their respective service's process.
