1 April 2015 Military Pay

I am doing this post a little early because the topic is being so heavily searched and because the long pay period after many shorter ones can be surprising.  The next regular, active duty military  pay day is Wednesday, 1 April 2015.  The exact date and time of your deposit will depend on your bank and sometimes even your account type.  Most financial institutions deposit active duty military pay on the actual payday.  However, some offer early direct deposit as a benefit to their customers.  It is a nice benefit, but sometimes it makes things more confusing along the way.  If you aren't aware that your bank or credit union offers early direct deposit, you should expect to be paid on Wednesday, 1 April 2015.

One Business Day Early

The most common early deposit schedule is to credit active duty military pay deposits one business day early.  Two big military-oriented companies that pay one business day early are USAA and Pacific Marine Credit Union.  For this pay period, one business day early will be Tuesday, 31 March 2015.

Service Credit Union

Service Credit Union's policy is to deposit active duty military pay two business days early, pending the receipt of information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS).  For this payday, two business days early will be Monday, 30 March 2015.  Service Credit Union does not guarantee that the pay will be deposited early.

Navy Federal Credit Union

There are two key things to know about the way that Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU)  credits military pay deposits.  First, they have two different paydays depending on which type of account you use.  Second, they show pay as “pending” on the day before it will actually be available, then it is posted overnight and available for use on the next business day.  While they do post deposits (credits) prior to charges and withdrawals (debits), you still don't want to be confused about pending vs. posted.

NFCU members who use Active Duty checking accounts will see their pay pending on Monday, 30 March 2015, to be posted overnight and available for use on Tuesday, 31 March 2015.  NFCU members who use any other type of checking account will see their pay pending on Tuesday, 31 March 2015, to be posted overnight and available for use on Wednesday, 1 April 2015.

Wondering what time you’ll be paid?  There is no set time.  It depends on the bank and the particular deposit.  While your bank or credit union may have a pattern that seems consistent, it is dependent on a hundred small factors and can change from payday to payday.
