It's popping up in the searches again, "military pay days." The next regular, active duty military pay day is Wednesday, 1 May 2013. This means that even members who have early deposit as a benefit to their bank account will not have their pay deposited until at least Monday, 29 April 2013, and most people will be Tuesday, 30 April 2013 or Wednesday, 1 May 2013.
The earliest anticipated deposits, among the banks about which I know, will probably be Service Credit Union. Service CU deposits active duty military pay "up to two days early," pending the receipt of the information from the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS.) Therefore, it is reasonable to think that Service CU customers may see their pay on Monday, 29 April 2013. Please keep in mind that Service CU does not guarantee early direct deposit. DO NOT make any silly financial moves assuming that your money will be deposited early.
On Tuesday, 30 April 2013, customers of USAA and Pacific Marine Credit Union should expect to be paid. Both financial institutions offer direct deposit military pay "one business day early." In addition, Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) Active Duty Checking who saw their pay pending on Monday, 29 April, and had it posted overnight to be available for use on Tuesday, 30 April 2013.
On Wednesday, 1 May 2013, everyone who has not had an early direct deposit will be paid. This include NFCU members with checking accounts types that are not Active Duty, who saw their pay pending on Tuesday, 30 April 2013, and had it posted overnight to be available for use on Wednesday, 1 May 2013.
I've written this post in a little different format this time, doing it chronologically instead of by bank or credit union. I'm not sure it was a great idea, but I had to do something to spice things up a little bit. Regular readers of this post, do you have any thoughts?
