What John Krasinski Is Doing With His ‘Jack Ryan’ Shutdown

You think you've had a messed-up year? Yeah, we all have, but John Krasinki is doing his best to make sense of his career chaos with his own online show, "Some Good News."

Krasinki wrote and directed "A Quiet Place II," the sequel to the massive 2018 surprise hit that launched his new career as a director. The new movie was set to open in late March and even premiered in New York. But it was later moved to a Sept. 4 release as it became necessary to close movie theaters.

After two successful seasons as the star of "Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan" on Amazon Prime Video, Krasinksi was getting cranked up to film season three amid rumors that he was taking a more active role in writing scripts for the upcoming shows.

As film and television production has shut down around the world, that means no "Jack Ryan" and a whole lot less for Krasinski to do.

What to do with the extra time? The actor decided to make his own online show to highlight the good things that people are doing for one another during challenging times. The show gives shoutouts to medical providers, delivery drivers, grocery workers and other essential employees who risk their lives to keep the country running.

The show even got a (virtual) visit from astronauts aboard the International Space Station. Since they're now experts after spending months in a cramped space, the space travelers offer advice about living life in isolation and remind us all that "an Earth in crisis is still an Earth worth returning to."

John's serious about this project. He's released four episodes so far on Facebook, and they're all about 20 minutes long. It's not what he planned to do this year, and watching Krasinski's home videos instead of a new season of "Jack Ryan" isn't what we planned for 2020 either.

But here we are, and Krasinki's one guy who's trying to make the best of things. Watch all of episode 4 below.
