Effective July 1, servicemembers can take ACT and SAT tests at off-base locations. Those taking tests off-base will be reimbursed by DANTES for the cost of the test.
The ACT and SAT tests are college-entrance examinations used by colleges to determine a prospective student's suitability for admission.

Beginning July 1, 2016, servicemembers who take the tests off-base are required to pay for the ACT and SAT tests up-front during registration, they will then be reimbursed for the test fee. Those who take the tests on base will still not be required to make any payment.
According to DANTES, those who take the tests off-base are required to request reimbursement on their website, a valid Uniformed Services CAC is required to access the Reimbursement Center of the DANTES website. Servicemembers are required to upload both the official score report and payment receipt with all reimbursement requests in order to receive reimbursement.
DANTES does not fund the ACT Writing, SAT without Essay or the SAT Subject examinations.
Servicemembers are eligible for the reimbursement of two ACTs, and two SATs during their military career. They may also be eligible for the reimbursement of one each of the GED, GMAT, GRE, and Praxis tests while in service.
Veterans may also be eligible for test reimbursement using their GI Bill benefits.
