Amusement parks are a fun way for families to spend time together while on vacation. But tickets aren't cheap, especially for larger families.
Many military families take advantage of the military discounts available for the Disney parks, but may not be aware of the discounts available for other popular amusement parks.
The following are amusement parks that offer military discounts. Keep in mind that many other amusement parks throughout the country offer military discounts on specific holidays like Memorial Day, Independence Day and Veterans Day. Carowinds
Carowinds in North Carolina offers special military discounts to active military personnel and veterans on single-day admission tickets. You can purchase up to six tickets for family and friends. All offers must be redeemed online after verification.
Cedar Point
Cedar Point in Ohio offers discounted single-day admission tickets to all military personnel, veterans, and their immediate family members after online verification.
Colonial Williamsburg
Colonial Williamsburg in Virginia offers active-duty military, Reservists, National Guard personnel, retired military and veterans complimentary admission once a year for themselves and up to three dependents on either Memorial Day weekend or Veterans Day weekend. They also qualify for 15% off the purchase of single-day admission tickets or 15% off the purchase of annual passes for themselves and up to three direct dependents.
Diggerland
Diggerland in West Berlin, NJ offers a military discount off general admission for Spring/Fall ($44.99) and Summer ($46.99) tickets. This offer is valid for the military ID holder and up to three additional family members.
Discovery Cove Orlando
Discovery Cove in Orlando is an all-inclusive day resort where guests can enjoy an opportunity to swim with dolphins, snorkel among tropical fish and rays, hand-feed exotic birds and encounter playful otters. Active-duty military, activated or drilling reservist, or National Guardsman and as many as three direct dependents get discounted rates on Day Resort Admission and Signature Dolphin Swim Package.
Dollywood
Dollywood in Tennessee offers a military discount on one-day admission tickets and Season Passes. Purchase your discounted tickets online.
Great Wolf Lodge
The Great Wolf Lodge, an indoor water park with locations throughout the country, offers a discount to active-duty military and veterans through their Howlin' Heroes program. Verify your military status online and save up to 40% off when you book a stay.
Holiday World & Splashin' Safari
Holiday World & Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana offers a military discount online for up to 10 tickets. To purchase tickets with a military discount at the ticket booth, simply show your ID. A military discount on season passes is also available.
Kentucky Kingdom
Kentucky Kingdom in Louisville offers a military discount starting at $29.99. Purchase online and then provide a valid military ID at the gate.
Kings Dominion
Active-duty military and veterans can purchase discounted tickets to Kings Dominion in Virginia. The discount is available online and can be used for up to six family members.
Kings Island
Kings Island in Ohio offers discounted tickets to active-duty military, veterans and their immediate family members. The discount offer is available online and is valid for up to six family members.
Knoebel's Amusement Resort
Knoebel's Amusement Resort in Pennsylvania offers active-duty military and Reservists a complimentary $40 book of ride tickets. Veterans get a complimentary $20 book of ride tickets. This deal is available once per season.
Knott's Berry Farm
Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California has roller coasters, family rides, water rides, games and arcades and live entertainment. The park offers discounted single-day admission tickets to all military personnel, veterans and their immediate family members after online verification. Purchase up to six tickets for family and friends.
LEGOLAND
LEGOLAND Florida offers active-duty service members special pricing and promotions online. Veterans, non-active military and military families should check with your local ITT office on base for discounted tickets that include a second day free.
LEGOLAND California Resort also offers exclusive specials for active-duty military, veterans, and their families.
For both parks, you can check your local MWR/ITT offices on base for discounted tickets.
Magic Springs Theme and Water Park
Magic Springs offers a military discount with ID of $34.99 plus tax at the gate. Family members pay $36.99 plus tax.
Morgan's Wonderland
Morgan's Wonderland in San Antonio, Texas offers $6 off entry for military personnel. You must show your military ID at the park.
Pacific Park
Located on the Santa Monica Pier, Pacific Park has rides, games, ocean front specialty food outlets and seaside shopping. All active-duty military personnel and immediate family members accompanying them get a discount on wristband purchases with a valid military ID card at the ticket booth. (This discount is not available online.)
Santa’s Village Amusement & Water Park
At Santa’s Village Amusement & Water Park outside of Chicago in East Dundee, active-duty military and veterans are free with a form of ID at the gate, and they can purchase up to four additional daily admission tickets for family at a discounted rate of $24.99 each/plus tax.
Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort
Schlitterbahn Waterpark and Resort in New Braunfels, Texas offers military discount tickets to active-duty military, veterans and immediate family members online after verification.
SeaWorld Parks
Through the SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment program "Waves of Honor," military members can receive one complimentary admission per year to either SeaWorld, Busch Gardens, or Sesame Place. Register online because the offer is not available at the parks.
You can also purchase tickets at Shades of Green, an Armed Forces Recreation Center (AFRC) in Orlando, Florida, which is a 15 to 30 minute drive from SeaWorld. (Shades of Green is also a great place to stay if you're looking for affordable hotels in the area.)
Six Flags
Most military bases offer discounted admission tickets to Six Flags parks so check with your nearest MWR/ITT office. Some Six Flags parks offer military discounts at the park ticket offices or online after verification so call or visit their websites before you go. Parks include Six Flags Great Adventure, Six Flags Great America, Six Flags Magic Mountain and Six Flags Fiesta Texas.
Stone Mountain Park
Stone Mountain Park in Georgia offers a military discount on the One-Day Attractions Ticket at the ticket window with a military or dependent ID.
Universal Studios
Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida offers a Military Freedom Pass that lets you choose from 2-Park or 3-Park options. They also offer vacation packages, including a Military Create Your Own Vacation Package, as well as discounts on Universal hotels.
Universal Studios Hollywood offers active-duty military personnel and veterans specially priced tickets. You can purchase discounted tickets either online after verification or at your local military base.
Valleyfair
Valleyfair, located in Shakopee, Minnesota, offers military discounted tickets online to active and retired military personnel, veterans and immediate family members.
Worlds of Fun
Worlds of Fun, located northeast of downtown Kansas City, offers discounted single-day admission tickets to all military personnel, veterans and their immediate family members after online verification.
