Tennessee Veteran Property Taxes
Certain 100% disabled veterans may receive property tax relief for up to $175,000 of a property's assessed value and their surviving spouses for up to $100,000 of a property's assessed value.
Tennessee Military and Veteran Education Benefits
Military/Veteran Education
State National Guard members may receive reimbursement toward a first bachelor's or first master's degree. Students may attend a Tennessee college of applied technology, regionally accredited community college, four-year public university or private institution whose primary campus is in the state. Guard members may also be eligible for repayment of a portion of their student loans.
Military Dependent Education
Survivors of veterans killed in action or who died as a result of injuries suffered in war may receive the full cost of college at a state institution. Children must be under the age of 23.
Tennessee Military and Veteran Employment Benefits
Veteran Hiring Preference
State preference: Veterans receive preference and credit for military service in state employment.
Driving: Veterans with a valid military commercial driver's license may receive a waiver of the required skills test for the first issuance of a commercial driver's license (CDL).
Military Spouse Employment
A spouse with a professional license in another state may work in Tennessee but must apply for licensure within one year of moving to Tennessee.

Veterans Homes
Tennessee's five state veterans homes are in Clarksville, Cleveland, Humboldt, Knoxville and Murfreesboro. Tennessee residents or natives are eligible for admission. Spouses, surviving spouses and Gold Star parents may also be eligible for admission. There is a fee.

Adapted Housing
No state benefits.
Tennessee Veteran Financial Assistance
No personal loan or grant programs.
Tennessee Veteran Legal Assistance
No state-funded legal services.
Tennessee Military and Veteran Recreation Benefits
Hunting/Fishing
The Resident Disabled Veteran Hunting and Fishing License ($10) is available to resident veterans certified as 30% disabled by war service or 100% for another service-connected disability. Covers license requirements to hunt and fish, but the holder must buy applicable permits.
Parks/Camping
Resident veterans may camp at the same discounted rate as Tennessee senior campers during the offseason, Nov. 1-March 31.
On Veterans Day, camping and golf greens fees are free at state campgrounds and golf courses.
Tennessee Veteran Transportation Benefits
No state benefits. The federal Department of Veterans Affairs' Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN) provides transportation to eligible veterans seeking VA services.
Any former POW or 100% permanent and totally disabled veteran is exempt from the county motor vehicle privilege tax.
Tennessee Veteran Burial Benefits
Veterans Cemeteries
Tennessee's five state veterans cemeteries are in Knoxville (two cemeteries), Memphis, Nashville and Parkers Crossroads. There is no fee for a veteran's interment and a small fee for spouses and dependent children.
