MCLEAN, Va – (BUSINESS WIRE) – Military.com is pleased to announce it will provide live streaming of the USO’s annual gala tonight in the nation’s capital.

Live streaming will be available by clicking here.  Military.com has worked closely with the USO for many years and supports the organization’s mission of taking care of America’s servicemembers.

President of Military.com and retired Navy Admiral T. McCreary commented, “We are honored to able to bring the Gala online and provide an opportunity for those who can’t be there in person to join in the experience of paying tribute to our men and women in uniform.”

“The USO Gala is something we look forward to every fall,” said USO Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Kelli Seely. “Not only because it allows us to pay tribute to the men and women who sacrifice their lives, every day, to protect our country, but also because it gives us the opportunity to thank our partners and sponsors that make it possible for the USO to fulfill its mission. Without partners like Military.com, we could not do what we’ve been doing for the past 70 years.”

This year the USO celebrated its 70th anniversary. The 2011 Gala will be held on Thursday, October 6, at the Wardman Park Marriott Hotel in Washington, DC. The star-studded event will feature comedian Carlos Mencia, legendary country icon Randy Travis and Miss USA 2011. The gala will also be used to recognize a special volunteer, as well as honorees selected by the Senior Enlisted representatives from each branch of the armed forces for their extraordinary bravery, loyalty and heroism.
Among the estimated 1,000 guests will be Washington dignitaries, Members of Congress, military leadership, celebrities, members of the USO Board of Governors, USO corporate sponsors and the media.

About the USO
The USO (United Service Organizations) lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families millions of times each year at hundreds of places worldwide.  We provide a touch of home through centers at airports and military bases, top quality entertainment and innovative programs and services. We also provide critical support to those who need us most, including forward-deployed troops and their families, wounded warriors and their families and the families of the fallen.

The USO is a private, non-profit organization, not a government agency. We rely on the generosity of our volunteers and donors.  In addition to individual donors and corporate sponsors, the USO is supported by Worldwide Strategic Partners: American Airlines, AT&T Inc., BAE Systems, The Boeing Company, Clear Channel Communications, The Coca-Cola Company, Lockheed Martin, Microsoft Corporation, Northrop Grumman Corporation, Procter & Gamble and TriWest Healthcare Alliance. We are also supported through the United Way and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC-11381).  To join us in this patriotic mission, and to learn more about the USO, please visit http://www.uso.org.
