The VA wants communities to honor hospitalized veterans through volunteerism during its National Salute to Veteran Patients between Feb. 10 and Feb. 16. Last year, communities marked the week by sending 288,000 valentines to VA medical centers, while more than 9,000 volunteers and 1,400 community organizations took part in events for hospitalized veterans, according to a release. More than 75,000 volunteers annually provide over 12 million volunteer hours helping veterans. Find more information about volunteering with the VA on its website.
